Philanthropy and Power

Why Skipping North Texas Giving Day is Like Leaving the BBQ Pit Before the Ribs—Don’t Miss Out!

Opening: The Power Play in Philanthropy

Ah, philanthropy, in North Texas, that’s taken to Olympic levels thanks to North Texas Giving Day, the dazzling philanthropic showdown that happens every September. And guess what? The curtain call for 2025 hits on Thursday, September 18, 2025—mark your calendars before your coffee does.

So, What’s This Day All About?

Held by the Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), North Texas Giving Day is not just “another charity hustle.” It’s the largest community-wide giving event in the nation, going strong for 17 years—and still fresh.

Here’s the kicker: 100% of every single donation goes straight to nonprofits. CFT covers all transaction and tech fees—no nickel-and-diming your generosity.

In 2024, donors and sponsors teamed up to raise over $70 million, energizing more than 3,200 local nonprofits across 20 North Texas counties.

The Mission That Powers It All

CFT’s real mission—and not just the sponsor-speak—is to improve lives by investing in health, wealth, living, and learning. They’re all about growing community giving, expanding impact, and advancing equity—with a vision of building thriving communities for all.

Between managing 1,300+ charitable funds and awarding $2.6 billion in grants since 1953, these folks are really in the “let’s build a better Texas” business.

Why This Blog Cares—And You Should, Too

At The Assaad Group, our mission, vision, and values revolve around empowering our community, driving thoughtful change, and uplifting everyone, no matter where they are on life’s path. North Texas Giving Day aligns perfectly with that—philanthropy with punch, humanity with hustle, and results with real impact.

Real Impact: A Few Neighborhood Heroes

Here’s a trio of nonprofits hitting North Texas with big hearts and boots:

  • First Street Mission (Fort Worth) – Battling hunger, homelessness, and social isolation for over 50 years. Last year alone, they grew service reach by 55% and continue helping Fort Worth residents find secure shelter and hope.

  • Vogel | Where Children Soar (Dallas) – Trauma-informed early childhood education for families experiencing homelessness or poverty. Vogel is one of the few—and highest-rated—centers offering therapy, education, and wraparound support all in one.

  • To Be Like Me – Disability awareness, empathy-building, and leadership training led by individuals with disabilities. In the 2024–2025 year alone, they educated over 7,000 students, teachers, and community members—one story at a time.
